The Division of Science, Information Arts and Technologies of the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Baltimore invites applications for a full-time lecturer position (one-year) in game design and human-computer interaction to begin in August 2014. For consideration, applicants must have a doctorate in a related field or an MFA, or substantial industry experience. Potential candidates will need to demonstrate success in creative professional practices and/or research and publications commensurate with the rank of the position. Also necessary are a strong commitment to teaching and a demonstrated ability to teach a range of courses on game and simulation-related technologies, particularly game design theory and game studies, at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Ability to teach interaction design for mobile devices would be a plus.  Individuals committed both to the digital arts and to computer science and information technologies, with a background in game and simulation development or interactive arts and media, are preferred.

The University of Baltimore, a component of the University System of Maryland, serves a diverse urban community with an emphasis on “knowledge that works.” The Division of Science, Information Arts and Technologies has fifteen full-time faculty and six affiliated faculty and offers three bachelor’s degrees, three post baccalaureate certificates, an M.S. in Interaction Design and Information Architecture, and a D.S. in Interaction and Information Design.

Primary teaching responsibilities will lie in the Simulation and Digital Entertainment (SDE) B.S. program and in the Interaction and Information Design (IDIA) M.S. program at the University of Baltimore. Teaching responsibilities may also include online courses and courses at the main campus of the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, Maryland. The SDE program currently enrolls approximately 215 students and is growing rapidly. Many of our alumni work in the 100+ interactive development companies in the Baltimore-Washington area. The IDIA program enrolls 45 students and is also growing.

9. Click the Add Attachment link, select References, attach a Word or PDF document with your 3 letters of recommendation, then click "Save".
