As part of the Housekeeping department within the Office of Facilities Management and Capital Planning, the Housekeeping Supervisor II provides outstanding service to the University of Baltimore by maintaining a clean and orderly environment in our buildings. Our selected candidate will supervise the night shift housekeeping staff and coordinate the cleaning activities for restorative and deep cycle cleaning. A majority of time will be spent on directing staff activities, inspecting work, carrying out special instructions, or resolving housekeeping issues. The size of the physical area and number of employees assigned will vary according to use and purpose of facility, volume of pedestrian traffic, and intensity and frequency of cleaning process.

Job duties & key responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

• Works as directed by the Housekeeping manager or designee.
• Regularly determines, plans, and schedules work priorities according to university and shift needs
• Routinely inspects the quality and quantity of work to ensure that it meets established standards and continuously shares this information with Managers, Supervisors, Leads, and Housekeepers
• Routinely assigns work duties and directs housekeeping staff to efficiently and effectively perform designated work.
• Routinely directs and frequently operates machinery necessary to perform assigned tasks such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, scrubbers, extractors, upholstery cleaners, steam cleaners, carpet shampooers  and other non-mechanized cleaning equipment.
• Loads and transports service cart with required materials and supplies to designated areas and back to campus storage areas, and requests cleaning materials and supplies as needed
• Frequently receives and responds to inquiries regarding the cleanliness and upkeep of a room or general area on campus
• Occasionally assists and demonstrates housekeeping operational & safety procedures and appropriate use of equipment
• Periodically inspects assigned areas and reports physical condition to appropriate personnel regarding repairs, replacements, furnishings and relocation of equipment
• May perform other related duties as assigned.
• Work off-hour shifts, perform overtime, and weekend assignments when required.

Minimum Required Education/Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• At least three years’ experience in housekeeping work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction
• Knowledge of established cleaning procedures and techniques
• Knowledge of the purpose and application of products and equipment used in cleaning operations
• Knowledge and use of personal protective equipment
• Skilled in motivating, developing and directing people as they work
• Skilled in monitoring and assessing the performance of others and the ability to make improvements or take corrective action
• Skilled in time management
• The ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations
• The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, information and ideas so others will understand
• The ability to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
• The ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others
• The ability to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment, and work with chemicals and cleaning solutions
• The ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
• The ability to reach overhead and below the knees
• The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, twisting in order to move furniture and equipment or to handle materials
• The ability to lift, transport, or carry supplies and refuse up to 20 pounds unassisted
• The ability to push, pull or operate equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted
• The ability to provide guidance and training to others
• The ability to work at heights climbs ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts when required

•Use the dropdown to enter your highest education level.  Entering this information is required.
•Then, only college and university information is required. Click the plus sign to the left of the “Postsecondary Education” link to enter that information.
•For country, enter USA or click the hourglass to select another country.
•You can use the first day of the month wherever dates are required.
•Click the plus sign to the left of "References" to enter two professional references.
•After you enter your education information and references, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

3. How did you find out about us/how did you find out about the job?

•After you enter this information, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

4. Online Questionnaire/Application Questionnaire: Answer the questions requiring a yes or no response. After you answer them, click “Submit.” This leads you to the Submit Online Application page.
