Campus Security

University of Baltimore Police Department

A Message From Samuel D. Tress, Chief of Police

Welcome to the University of Baltimore Police Department. Our job is to serve and protect not only the UB community, but also prospective students, visitors and those who simply drive or walk through the campus; ultimately, we are all neighbors in the UB Midtown community.

The University of Baltimore Police Department provides a vital service in a growing, exciting neighborhood. We are a professional police agency that employs officers who are sworn, trained and certified through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions and are supplemented by a security force. Our department is a full partner with city law enforcement and other police agencies. One important part of our task involves the University’s compliance with the legal requirements of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.

As a member of the UB community, you are our partner in maintaining a safe environment at the University. This “community policing” strategy is the foundation of our operation, and it enables us to work with you to ensure a secure campus at which you can pursue your personal and professional goals. With that in mind, I encourage you to serve as an extra pair of eyes and ears and to report anything suspicious to our department at 410.837.5520.
