You Can Help: The 2013 University of Baltimore Food Drive to Benefit the Maryland Food Bank and the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger is happening now.
Like the campaign says: You can help. It's easy to join in this annual University-wide effort: Bring your donation of canned or nonperishable food items to the clearly marked boxes located around campus. Or, if you prefer, just visit the Maryland Food Bank's website to participate in a virtual food drive.
This year, our goal is 10,000 items. Let's make that goal, and more!
Your support will help the Maryland Food Bank feed the nearly 460,000 Marylanders who aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from. Your efforts will benefit children, seniors and those in the Maryland Food Bank's fastest-growing demographic of need—working adults and families who are just above the federal poverty line and are struggling to make ends meet.
In the spirit of friendly competition, you can donate to your favorite faculty- or office-led team. While the team challenge wraps up Oct. 12, the food drive will continue on throughout the fall semester and will conclude at the University's faculty and staff holiday party in mid-December. This year's campaign is sponsored by Phi Delta Phi, the University of Baltimore School of Law's legal honors fraternity.
The Maryland Food Bank has designated the following items as "most needed" in its ongoing efforts to help families: (Please note that, due to concerns about breakage, items in glass containers are not acceptable.)
Meat and protein
Breads and cereals
Fruits and vegetables
