UB's Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences invites you to a yearlong symposium to facilitate campuswide conversation about the future of integrative applied liberal arts and sciences at a 21st-century University of Baltimore.
In the second installment of the symposium, Richard Guarasci, president of Wagner College in New York City, will present to the UB community.
At Wagner, Guarasci founded The Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts, a four-year curriculum for all undergraduates, which combines traditional, experiential and civic learning in a unique curriculum.
He is now a national leader in higher education with many speaking engagements throughout the United States.
Guarasci is the author of Democratic Education in the Age of Difference: Redefining Citizenship in Higher Education (Jossey-Bass, 1997), and Time Magazine selected him as a National Undergraduate Educator. He has served on the National Board of Directors of the American Association of Colleges and Universities among other prominent organizations. He writes blog entries about civics and community engagement in higher education for The Huffington Post.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from Fordham University, and he received his M.A. in Economics and Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University.
A reception will follow the keynote address.
