Final presentations and a competition for students in UB's Design/Business Link and Social Enterprise classes will take place on Dec. 11 and Dec. 16, respectively. Prize money totaling $126,000, provided by a grant from the Open Society Institute-Baltimore, will be distributed among the students' nonprofit clients.
The events are the culmination of a semester's worth of consultation and collaboration with a group of 10 nonprofits, in which UB students and their clients created ideas and business plans to support the nonprofits' missions.
The Dec. 11 event, in which design/business link students will showcase branding design and concepts for four nonprofits, will take place beginning at 5 p.m. in the Town Hall in UB's Learning Commons, 1415 Maryland Ave. The Dec. 16 event, in which social enterprise students will present market opportunities for social enterprises in seven nonprofits, will take place at 5 p.m. in the same location.
