A group of 40 high school students from throughout Baltimore will celebrate their completion of the University of Baltimore's College Readiness Academy with a series of presentations on Friday, Aug. 1 beginning at 9 a.m. The group will share their recommendations for developing a college-going culture in local high schools, and offer insights into what they've learned during the six-week experience provided by the academy.
The group of 40 students—all from Baltimore public high schools and area independent schools—engaged in the College Readiness Academy to develop content knowledge and college success skills in anticipation of an opportunity to dually enroll at UB while still in high school. This summer, UB served as a Mayor's Office of Employment Development YouthWorks jobsite, offering students the added bonus of being paid for participation in the academy.
At the Aug. 1 event, guests will learn more about the College Readiness Academy and UB's dual enrollment strategy, and how the institution supports participating students as they transition into a year of taking both college and high school classes.
