Mary joined the HR team in February 2012. She has served in senior HR leadership roles in a variety of industries including higher education, healthcare, and human services including two of the 15 University of Texas campuses, the University of Michigan and the University of California in San Diego.  She has also served as Chair of the national Board of Directors for College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).  Mary is a frequent presenter at national, regional, and local conferences for a variety of human resource and other professional organizations positioning themselves toward results-driven strategies and change.

Mary holds a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with post-graduate work in strategic organization design and development. She has taught a variety of human resource management courses in graduate and undergraduate business degree programs. 


Judith McDonald

Judith joined the HR team in August 2002. Previously she worked for the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute in the Office of the President. Judith’s commitment to the community is also demonstrated in her previous employment with Baltimore City Community College, Baltimore City Healthy Start, and various community centers through the Baltimore City area.

Judith holds an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from Baltimore City Community College and is currently working on her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at University of Baltimore. She is a member of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).


Rebecca Spence

Rebecca joined the HR team in December 1999. Previously she worked for the city of Middletown, Connecticut where she participated in negotiations with four unions and was involved in all other aspects dealing with labor relations.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Atlantic Union College, and a Master of Science degree in Management with emphasis in Human Resources from Rensselear Institute. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

Mark joined the HR team in May 2006. Previously he worked for over 25 years in training and development in a variety of public and private sector environments. He has also taught Organizational Change and Development at the graduate level in a Human Resources Development program.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Loyola College and a Master of Administrative Science degree in Human Resource Development from Johns Hopkins University. He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  He is also a member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

Jackie joined the HR team in April 2010.  Previously she worked for Optimal Solutions Group and prior to that for the TriZetto Group. Earlier in her career, she was employed by the University of Maryland Medical Center as Senior Compensation and Benefits Consultant.

Jackie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore, and she is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Society for Human Resources Management.  She is a member of Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA) and College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

Sally joined the HR team in January 2004. Previously she worked for the University of Maryland, Baltimore as a Senior Staffing Specialist and then as a Senior Compensation Analyst. She has also taught a variety of human resource management courses in undergraduate business degree programs.

Sally holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Baltimore. She is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), a Certified Compensation Professional from World at Work, and a member of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

Patrice joined the HR team in May 2005.  Previously she worked for an educational consulting firm and for 12 years with Johns Hopkins University in Student Affairs.

She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is a member of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

Monifa joined the HR team in June 2004 while a student and through various progressively more responsible opportunities, currently serves as HR’s PeopleSoft Human Capital Management Business Analyst.  

Monifa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore and is currently studying for her Master of Information Systems at Bowie State University. She is a member of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), Modern Analyst, and the Higher Education User Group (HEUG). She is also a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

Manikka joined the HR team in September 2014. Previously, she worked for Lockheed Martin and prior to that, the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.  She was also a Human Resources Information Systems Analyst with the University of Maryland University College (UMUC). Her prior experience includes recruitment, information systems and business analysis in a variety of industries.

Manikka holds a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from UMUC as well as a Masters in Management and MBA, both also from UMUC. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).

Laura Schoefield

Laura joined the HR team in November 2013. Previously she worked for MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital as an Administrative Coordinator in Marketing and Communications.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Towson University. She is a member of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).
