Veteran and Military Student Liaison (Part-Time)

Salary: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Note:  Position is part-time, 20 hours per week


Serve as the Veterans Services Officer for the University of Baltimore to:

  • Support veteran and military students
  • Assist with academic and administrative support services available to veteran and military students and their dependents
  • Recruit prospective veteran and military students


  • Serve as a University resource for prospective and enrolled veteran, military and benefit-eligible dependent students regarding military education benefits
  • Communicate with prospective and enrolled students regarding the availability of military and veteran benefits, and provide assistance with  completing required applications and forms
  • Collaborate with financial aid staff in support of matters regarding military and veterans’ benefits
  • Assist the Offices of Admission in recruiting prospective students who are veterans, active military, and members of the National Guard to facilitate their enrollment at the University of Baltimore
  • In conjunction and collaboration with the Offices of Student Affairs, organize and implement activities, events and programs for veteran and military students
  • Coordinate with MVUB faculty adviser on academic matters
  • Serve as a member of the Military Veterans and Active Military Students Task Force (MVAMS) and the Veteran and Military Steering Committee (VMSSC), under the supervision and direction of the University’s Senior Vice President  for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs
  • Establish new and reinforce existing relationships with federal, state and local veterans' services organizations, such as the U.S. Veterans Administration, local National Guard units, and others
  • Research opportunities and requirements to achieve external status, such as GI Jobs “military friendly”


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current or prior military service
  • 2 years of experience in higher education administration, either in Admissions, Financial Aid or University Registrar
  • Relevant knowledge and experience in counseling veteran and military students regarding education benefits
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive issues
  • Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and collaboration within a collegiate organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical skills with student data systems such as PeopleSoft
