The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs will work closely with and assist the Provost as Chief Academic Officer in coordinating and reviewing academic programs within each of the UB schools and interact with other institutions of higher education at both system and state levels.

Major responsibilities will include serving as the Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness Officer; function as Academic Liaison (ALO) for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and as representative for Academic Affairs to the Maryland Higher Education Commission; function for the University System of Maryland as graduate dean; represent the Provost on internal and external committees; coordinate special academic initiatives; lead professional staff development team; and, manage the Office of the Provost and the Provost’s Office staff in the absence of the Provost. May hold concurrent non-tenure track faculty position in UB school or program commensurate with experience.

  • Function as chief institutional accreditation officer and Middle States Liaison, and provide professional support in the areas of assessment, continuous improvement, and program evaluation to all four UB schools and colleges
  • Organize and lead institutional initiatives in academic program review, evaluations, and internal data collection
  • Assume collaborative leadership role for all aspects of academic program delivery and evaluation including review of existing programs for expansion and creation; review of course proposals; development of assessment plans; and, reporting as requested on program quality
  • Provide collaborative leadership with the four colleges/schools and other divisions with respect to:
    o    Improving institutional practices for curriculum and academic policies
    o    Coordinating program development, including policies and procedure reviews
    o    Anticipating areas of growth and need at the institutional level and articulate those in a collaborative work environment to deans and other university stakeholders
    o    Assisting in developing and executing grant work relating to curriculum and student persistence
  • Collaborate in faculty development efforts with other Provost office and deans’ staff
  • Prepare internal and external reports on assessment, curriculum, policies and procedures for student success
  • Serve as Provost staff representative to campus wide committees and task forces as assigned including General Education Council, Graduate Council, and Enrollment Management Coordination Team
  • Represent the Provost as needed at internal and external events
  • Serve as institutional graduate dean to system leaders
  • Serve as campus dean at Universities of Shady Grove- duties include enrollment management, budget review, attendance at monthly meetings, collaboration with UB deans in new program development, and supervision of USG student success coordinator
  • Supervise two staff members:  Shady Grove Student Success Coordinator and Executive Administrative Assistant
  • Pursue and coordinate with others professional development opportunities especially in support of General Education and institutional effectiveness
  • Teach up to one course per semester as may be appropriate.

The successful candidate will hold an appropriate terminal degree and must have demonstrated knowledge of curriculum issues, assessment, and accreditation.  Rank and tenure status to be determined based on qualifications.

•For country, enter USA or click the hourglass to select another country.
•You can use the first day of the month wherever dates are required.
•Click the plus sign to the left of "References" to enter two professional references.
•After you enter your education information and references, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

•After you enter this information, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

4. Online Questionnaire/Application Questionnaire: There are three questions requiring a yes or no response. After you answer these three questions, click “Submit.” This leads you to the Submit Online Application page.


To apply for your selected job: When you reach the “Submit Online Application” page shown below, you must click “I agree to these terms” and then click the “Submit” button at the end of the screen. After you click “Submit,” then you will see this information at the top of your screen:
