Coordinator of Computer Skills & Communications (Internal Only)

Salary: $45,000 – $55,000

Coordinate and provide student support in computer applications commonly required by UB courses. Provide support, advice and training to staff delivering online academic support over non-supported platforms and to students using these platforms.  Conduct research to assist with determination of target audiences/services and assessment of student outcomes.  Coordinate ALC marketing and communications.

• Assist students:
o Coordinate and provide group instruction in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, basic computer skills, UB’s web platform (Sakai), ALC’s online tutoring platforms (Blackboard Collaborate, WCOnline), and web/graphic design applications:  Teach workshops/prerequisite reviews, lead in-class presentations, develop instructional materials, hire and oversee weekend instructors. 
o Provide just-in-time individualized assistance with above applications
o Manage and improve automation of online tutor request, registration, and appointment processes.

• Assist staff with instructional and support service technology:
o Provide training to ALC coordinators, tutors, and other ALC staff utilizing digital instructional media—for example, synchronous web conferencing, online screen capture, and asynchronous videos—that are not supported by OTS; troubleshoot online service delivery problems.
o Monitor developments in online support service delivery and make recommendations 

• Coordinate and oversee communications, marketing and publicity of ALC services and programming
o Assess, select and coordinate use of communications media, including social media, appropriate to different audiences with different communications preferences
o Oversee production of ALC brochures, UB Post ads, posters, etc.
o Manage department website
o Hire, train and supervise student publicists
o Assist with class visits, Open Houses and other outreach events

• Conduct research to assist with setting department priorities, target communications, and assess service effectiveness
o Liaison with faculty, conduct surveys to identify computer skills most important to UB classes
o Query PeopleSoft and use pivot tables to gather and analyze information on high-risk classes and at-risk students to focus computer skills services and communications.
o Oversee collection, organization, and presentation of data on computer skills service utilization and student learning outcomes.

• Hire, train, and supervise Administrative Assistant II

• Serve on division committees; perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years professional experience. Requires demonstrated tutoring, teaching and/or training experience and demonstrated knowledge of computer applications, particularly MS Office (including intermediate to advanced Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud; ability to market student services; ability to use and train others to use synchronous and asynchronous web-based instructional tools; excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills; demonstrated planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends as necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in education, communications, or related field. Also preferred: Master’s degree, administrative as well as supervisory experience; experience in a college setting, particularly communications and service-related; experience with web content management, publications design, and social media; familiarity with online instructional platforms; familiarity with PeopleSoft; customer service experience.

•For country, enter USA or click the hourglass to select another country.
•You can use the first day of the month wherever dates are required.
•Click the plus sign to the left of "References" to enter two professional references.
•After you enter your education information and references, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

•After you enter this information, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

4. Online Questionnaire/Application Questionnaire: There are three questions requiring a yes or no response. After you answer these three questions, click “Submit.” This leads you to the Submit Online Application page.
