Chapter 30   (Montgomery GI Bill- Active Duty Educational Assistance Program)

  1. Complete VA Form 22-1990, Application for Educational Benefits at   VA website
  2. Once enrolled, complete Veteran Semester Enrollment Form.
  3. A copy of your DD-214 or your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) must be obtained.
  4. Review UB Veterans Benefits Checklists Form
  5. Submit all paperwork to UB Financial Aid Office

Chapter 33 (The Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act)

  1. Visit the Department of Veterans Affairs website   http://www.gibill.va.gov   for complete eligibility and entitlement information, or call the GI BILL Hotline at 1-888-442-4551.
  2. Review the Department of Veterans Affairs website for information.   VA Education Benefit Programs Comparison Chart to ensure you are electing the benefits best suited for you. NOTE: The Post 9/11 GI Bill is an irrevocable election.
  3. Complete the application for Educational Benefits after you have reviewed eligibility and entitlement information.  You can complete the VA Form 22-1990, Application for Educational Benefits at   VA website
  4. A copy of your DD-214 or your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) must be obtained.
  5. Once enrolled, complete Veteran Semester Enrollment Form.
  6. Review UB Veterans Benefits Checklists Form
  7. Submit all paperwork to UB Financial Aid office

Chapter 35   (Application for Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Form)

  1. Complete VA Form 22-5490, Application for Educational Benefits at VA website,  
  2. A copy of Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) must be obtained
  3. Once enrolled, complete Veteran Semester Enrollment Form.
  4. Review UB Veterans Benefits Checklists Form
  5. Submit all paperwork to UB Financial Aid Office

Chapter 1606   (Montgomery GI Bill- Selected Reserve Educational Assistance Program)

  1. Complete VA Form 22-1990, Application for Educational Benefits at the VA website .
  2. Obtain a copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE)
  3. Once enrolled, complete Veteran Semester Enrollment Form.
  4. Review UB Veterans Benefits Checklists Forms
  5. Submit all paperwork to UB Financial Aid Office

Chapter 1607   (Reserve Educational Assistance Program -REAP)

  1. Complete VA Form 22-1990, Application for Educational Benefits at the VA website .
  2. Obtain a copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) or DD-214.
  3. Once enrolled, complete Veteran Semester Enrollment Form.
  4. Review UB Veterans Benefits Checklists Form
  5. Submit all paperwork to UB Financial Aid Office

Chapter 31   (Vocational Rehabilitation Educational Assistance Program)

  1. The Dept. of Veteran Affairs Rehabilitation Counselor must provide you with form 22-1905, Authorization and Certification of Entrance or Re-entrance into Rehabilitation and Certification of Status. UB must have a copy from Department of Veteran Affairs on file.
  2. Once enrolled, complete Veteran Semester Enrollment Form .
  3. Review UB Veterans Benefits Checklists Form
  4. Submit all paperwork to UB Financial Aid Office
