Join us for a fascinating discussion on the intersection of sports and technology!
Benjamin Sussman-Hyde of the Baltimore Orioles will discuss his work in bringing advancements to the world of baseball through technological analysis, followed by an interactive Q&A session. This event is free and open to the public.
This is a primarily in-person event but there will be limited Zoom space available.

RSVP for ZoomBenjamin Sussman-Hyde grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as a passionate sports fan with a particular love for the Boston Red Sox and later attended Santa Clara University, where he majored in psychology. Over the past 13 years, Sussman-Hyde has worked in professional baseball operations, including the last 11 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, specializing in data analysis, strategic planning, scouting and project management. Most recently, he co-led the Advance Scouting team. analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data on opponents and translating those insights into reports and presentations to help players prepare for daily competition.
Sussman-Hyde played a key role in in-game tactical decision-making, advising the Manager, and supporting the General Manager with roster construction and acquisition strategies. Beyond analysis and scouting, he oversaw the Orioles' Video Coaching department, utilizing charting software to catalog every pitch of each game and developing a searchable video library to streamline player evaluation and coaching efficiency. Additionally, he led the research and implementation of cutting-edge technologies in Major League Operations, including high-speed camera systems and an advanced pitching machine designed to replicate any pitcher’s arsenal with precision.
