Join us for a discussion of Baltimore’s forgotten early history of jazz with Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of English and History Lawrence P. Jackson. As the founding director of the Billie Holiday Center for the Liberation Arts, Dr. Jackson is researching Baltimore’s pioneering role in the emergence of jazz in the early 20th century with a focus on Billie Holiday’s life in the city.
