Presentation – BC 225

1:30 – 2:30 Thursday February 14, 2013

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) and the American Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA) mandate the meaningful use of electronic medical records (EMR) by 2014.   The desired outcome is directed towards improving medical documentation, increasing efficiency, improving quality of care, reducing redundancy, maximizing code revenues and improving inter and intra office communications. However, the inherent design of EMRs, coupled with user errors, may increase liability risks.

This presentation will provide insight into the considerations and challenges encountered when implementing and using an EMR system.
