Legal Professional Development Institute: Developing Cultural Competency with Yoznna X. Moisides, Legal Aid Bureau

When:
Location:
School of Law

Description:

A critical skill for lawyering success!

To be an effective lawyer, in any practice area or practice setting, you need the ability to understand, appreciate, and interact with persons from cultures and/or belief systems other than your own.

Cultural competency requires both an awareness of your own cognitive 'filter' as well as the ability to emphathize with others.

Yoanna X. Moisides, the Assistant Director of Advocacy for Training and Pro Bono for the Legal Aid Bureau of Maryland, will be on campus to offer an interactive workshop on developing this critical skill set and learning how it applies in our diverse, globalized legal workplaces.
