Langsdale Library 16mm Film Handling Workshop

When:
Location:
Langsdale Library
Description:

This workshop will provide attendees with hands-on training in safely handling 16mm film archival materials.

The morning session consists of: a lecture introducing the physical and chemical properties of film as well as the history of motion picture film’s many formats (focusing on 16mm) and proper documentation, assessment and storage needs; and lastly a demonstration of 16mm inspection, repair and rehousing for preservation.

During the afternoon session, the workshop participants will split up into groups and each attendee will inspect, repair and rehouse a 16mm film from our collection (under careful supervision by the AV Archivist).

The workshop will be held at the Langsdale Library Special Collections Reading Room (4th Floor of 1420 Maryland Ave Baltimore, MD 21201) on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 9:30am until 4pm.

Space is limited to 8 people: please RSVP using this link by April 21, 2014.
