If you're enrolled in UB's Foundational Mathematics (MATH 100), prepare to do your best with this two part review of pre-algebra and elementary algebra skills.

You probably mastered these pre-algebra and basic algebra concepts sometime in the past. They might be rusty, but you’ll regain them quickly! The review will be led by the ALC’s popular Math Coordinator, Yoosef Khadem, and will cover the following topics:

  • Basic review of arithmetic
  • Categories of numbers
  • Locating numbers on number line for comparison
  • The order of operation agreement
  • Addition and subtraction of real numbers
  • Simplifying algebraic expressions
  • Equation of a straight line and its graph
  • Solving two equations and two unknowns
  • Rules of exponents
  • Factoring trinomials

Students who attended the review last semester said, “I learned a better way to do fractions!” and “I appreciated the positive attitude and real-world applications.”
