While much is said of “artistic freedom,” and the obligations of artists of all types to society, a larger and more important framework includes both obligations and reciprocity. Three important questions are considered:
- What can and should artists do for society?
- How can society appropriately respond to the service and work of artists?
- What can and should society do for artists?
Jeffrey Hoover, associate professor in the Klein Family School of Communications Design and director of the B.A. in Integrated Arts program, will lead this discussion.
