In recognition of the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., an American Civil Rights Leader, we want to remember not only his life, but the achievements of this influential advocate for human rights. It is in remembering the amazing legacy of such a profound leader that we must come together in solidarity to celebrate his legacy. This day is not only a time to remember his achievements, but it also grants us the opportunity to be part of Dr. Kings hopes and vision. It is in his words, and actions that we can look to find ways to live out his dream. As Dr. King stated, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that,” let us not only be the light and love on MLK Day, but every day!
As a continuation of the celebration of Dr. Kings life, we invite you to join us for the MLK Day 2024 parade on Monday, January 15th. We will gather in the lobby of the Student Center at 11am and walk together as a group to the parade. Refreshments will be served prior to the parade.
It is in coming together with fellow Marylanders that we hope to accomplish not only remembering the amazing life of Dr. King but to honor his dream of solidarity, respect, justice, and empathy. We hope you can join us!
