Faculty show their love for Langsdale's librarians.

Roses are red, violets are blue, dear Langsdale Library staff and librarians, we'd be lost without you.

That's why the faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences' Division of Legal, Ethical and Historical Studies are throwing a Valentine's Day appreciation party for the staff and faculty of Langsdale Library.

Here's why the faculty appreciate the librarians and the library staff, in their own words:

I was thinking about how much I love the librarians, and V-Day gave me the opportunity to show it. Our division is utterly dependent on the librarians for our scholarly and pedagogical work, and they always come through for us.
—Nicole Hudgins, assistant professor

I believe that students learn through exploration, but that approach requires a skilled guide. The Langsdale librarians don't roll their eyes when my students show up with broad assignments that require original research. They patiently ask questions that lead students down a realistic path, introducing them to resources that I didn't even know existed. They take my serviceable assignments and make them dynamic. Their consistent, good-humored support allows our students to do the work of real historians.
—Elizabeth Nix, assistant professor

A confession. This is something I've never said to my husband, but to my beloved librarians and library staff at UB, I say: 'You saved my life. Thank you.'
