Rosabeth Moss Kanter, author of the new (and already acclaimed) SuperCorp and the Ernest L. Arbuckle Professor at Harvard Business School, will discuss the model corporation of the future as the Merrick School of Business Dean's Speakers Series continues on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. This one-of-a-kind event will take place in the University of Baltimore's Student Center Performing Arts Theater, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave. (Ticket information listed below.)
Kanter's book, subtitled How Vanguard Companies Create Innovation, Profits, Growth and Social Good, addresses some of the biggest questions facing not only modern business but also civilization itself: How can the leading corporations of the 21st century add value for their shareholders and customers-as well as the world at large? How can company growth be both successful and sustainable? What does it mean for a corporation to develop and act on a social conscience?
Kanter specializes in strategy, innovation and leadership for change in her teaching and research at Harvard. Her strategic and practical insights have guided leaders of large and small organizations worldwide for more than 25 years, and her insights are widely respected in both the public and private sectors.
SuperCorp is receiving first-rate reviews:
"This is a 'must read' for anyone concerned about where capitalism needs to go," said Bill George, former chair and CEO of Medtronic and author of True North.
"Timely, informative, and uplifting-all of the qualities of a great read," said David Gergen, CNN commentator and White House counselor to four U.S. presidents.
"Kanter makes a compelling case about the role played by corporate culture, values-based decision making, and larger societal issues in the creation of sustainable success," said Ivan Seidenberg, chairman and CEO of Verizon.
Those attending this Dean's Speaker Series event will have an opportunity to attend an exclusive booksigning with Kanter immediately following her talk.
Tickets are $10 each, and are available via online registration.
This is the second event in the Dean's Speaker Series. It debuted last April with a talk by Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner and founder of the Grameen Bank.
The University of Baltimore is a member of the University System of Maryland and comprises the School of Law, the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts and the Merrick School of Business.
