The University of Baltimore and the Center for Deployment Psychology will host a one-day training opportunity for licensed mental health professionals and other staff who work in a college or university setting and who regularly engage with military service members or veterans who are attending school. The credit-eligible program, entitled "Would You Recognize Me If I Weren't in Uniform?," will take place on Friday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Town Hall in UB's Learning Commons, 1415 Maryland Ave. The cost is $25 (or $50 if the participant is seeking Continuing Education credit).
The program is designed for clinical mental health providers, including counseling center staff psychologists and social workers, pre-doctoral interns, graduate-level externs, graduate-level clinical students, campus psychiatrists, disability services staff, local community providers, and regional community college providers. All practicing clinicians, trainees, and clinical students in a campus community are encouraged to attend the full day.
In addition, all non-clinical university personnel, including those representing student affairs, residence life, academic advising, and other areas of student-facing responsibilities, are encouraged to attend.
Topics covered during the session will include outreach strategies for service members and veterans, campus reintegration, an overview of campus life from the perspective of someone who has served in the military, and a number of others.
