UB's Hoffberger Center to Host Midday Events with BSO Exploring Moral Themes in Music, Sept. 21, Oct. 1

The University of Baltimore's Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics will join the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to host two events exploring ethical themes inherent in music. A brass quintet performance, featuring Andrew Balio, the BSO's principal trumpet, will perform and conduct an open discussion on the value of classical music in the lives of everyone on Monday, Sept. 21. The following week, Marcus Stenz, the BSO's principal guest conductor, will give a lecture on the "Moral Dimensions" of Mozart's Don Giovanni on Thursday, Oct. 1. Both events are free and open to the public. An R.S.V.P. is required; details are listed below.
Fred Guy, director of the Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics, said that he is grateful for the opportunity of partnering with Andy Balio and the BSO to bring live classical music to the UB community.
"These programs are the first of two in a series of programs planned with Mr. Balio and the BSO to raise awareness of the role of music in helping to shape our moral and ethical perspectives," Guy said.
