This is a Global Field Study opportunity to delve deeper into ancient and modern England by learning in one of the world's best-known cities as well as one of the most English and off the beaten-path market towns in the UK.

At The University of Baltimore, we recognize the importance of enhancing the knowledge base of our students through global field studies. Each year, we offer opportunities to study abroad and this fall the College of Arts and Sciences is offering a course that takes you to England.

Course Overview


Visit Norwich, the historically preserved market town of East Anglia. Known as the “City of Stories,” Norwich includes a Cathedral founded in 1096, a central Market from the same time; Norwich Castle founded 1066; and the Adam and Eve pub, first referenced in a publication in 1249. Norwich is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in England. 

 

Explore the renowned University of East Anglia (UEA) and join fellow UEA students with its modern and friendly campus.


Visit London, one of the most famous cosmopolitan cities in the world: cruise the historic Thames, Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Tower of London, Covent Garden, Tower Bridge, and Inns of Court. 

 

Course Details

  • Travel Dates: Dec, 8 - 18, 2025
  • Faculty:  The course will be led by Profs. Steven Scalet and Joshua Kassner.
  • Course Registration: Accepted students will enroll in one of three cross-listed sections, selected through consultation with advising: IDIS 302, PHIL 140, or PHIL 492. 
  • Applications will be reviewed on May 15 and open until filled. Limited availability. 
  • Course Costs: UBalt Fall 2025 Tuition and Fees for a 3-credit course.
  • Travel Costs: $1,600 per person, includes airfare, lodging, tours, in-country transportation, and some meals. An amazing opportunity! Some additional scholarships available for Honors and other students.
