The Daily Record recently highlighted the rapid expansion of AI curriculums in Maryland colleges, featuring Professor Mikhail Pevzner's insights on the University of Baltimore's groundbreaking new program focused on artificial intelligence.
The article underscored the urgency of this move, citing Microsoft's 2024 Annual Work Trends Index, which revealed that over 71% of leaders would prioritize hiring individuals with AI familiarity, even over more experienced candidates lacking such knowledge.
Demonstrating remarkable foresight, the faculty at the Merrick School of Business anticipated this critical business trend and proactively developed the state's first Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence for Business (AI for Business) program. This innovative 30-credit graduate degree is designed to equip students with the skills to lead in the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and business.
When school announced the program, the dean of the Merrick School of Business Raju Balakrishnan said, "We're not just training programmers. This program focuses on the human element. Our graduates will understand the capabilities and limitations of AI, as well as the ethical considerations that come with its use. This sets them apart and positions them for success in the AI era."
