Campus Safety and Security

Policing and Public Safety at The University of Baltimore

Policing on the campus of The University of Baltimore is managed by the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). UBalt maintains responsibility for campus security performed by unarmed, civilian security personnel known as Campus Safety and Security. Uniformed officers from UMB—sworn, armed, and professionally trained and certified—are assigned to patrol the UBalt campus. At the same time, our Safety and Security staff provides building access and control, including office lockouts, welcome desk staffing, interior/exterior patrols, etc. UMB police and UBalt security staff are in regular and constant contact.

Day or night, through the week and the weekend, UMB officers assigned to the UBalt campus are patrolling our streets, buildings and gathering places. If you need assistance and an officer or security team member is nearby, ask for their help. If no uniformed officer or security staff member is nearby, call one of the numbers above, depending on the nature of your issue.

Your safety and security are the top priority for The University of Baltimore. Let's work together to keep the campus a safe and welcoming environment for our community.

The University of Baltimore's annual security report (ASR) is prepared to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The annual security report is prepared in cooperation with the Baltimore Police Department, the University of Maryland Baltimore Police Department and the Office of Student Support. The report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings owned or controlled by the University of Baltimore, and on public property immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is a regional center located in Rockville, Md., that supports programs from nine different institutions within the University System of Maryland. Students attend classes at USG but are still considered students of their "home campus." In addition, employees at USG can be affiliated with any of the nine institutions.

Please access the link https://www.shadygrove.umd.edu/campus-resources/public-safety for the USG Safety & Security publication that is compiled and distributed annually in compliance with the Clery Act and contains crime statistics and statements of security policy. Annually, prior to Oct. 1, current students and employees are sent an email message providing them with a link to this brochure and notification that the current edition of the Safety & Security publication has been posted on the Universities at Shady Grove website. Printed copies may be obtained from the 24-hour security desk located in the Camille Kendal Academic Center on the Shady Grove campus.

Crime Statistics for USG are reported, in their entirety, by each of the nine institutions that conduct classes at USG.
