  • Auxiliary Operations Fee is $28 per credit (from 1-11 credits). The full-time rate of $336 applies to 12 or more credits.

A course load of 13 credits or more per semester is considered full-time for law students.

There is no full-time tuition for taxation programs (LL.M. in Taxation, M.S. in Taxation and Certificate in Estate Planning) and the Post JD Certificate in Family Law. Choose the number of credits you'll take this semester to determine your tuition. Please note that you must take 6 credits per semester in the academic year to qualify for federal financial aid.  Tuition and fees for these programs are charged as follows:

  • Auxiliary Operations Fee is $28 per credit (from 1-12 credits). The full-time rate of $336 applies to 12 or more credits.
  • Student Services Fee is $24 per credit (from 1-12 credits). The full-time rate of $288 applies to 12 or more credits.
  • Student Center Fee is $36 per credit (from 1-11 credits). The full-time rate of $432 applies to 12 or more credits.
  • Student Bar Association Fee is a flat rate of $37.
  • Technology Fee is $12 per credit (from 1-11 credits). The full-time rate of $144 applies to 12 or more credits.

Regional Residency Option for Graduate Students

Graduate Students outside of Maryland may pay in-state tuition if you:

live in:

  • Washington, D.C.
  • Virginia: Arlington, Clarke, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Rappahannock, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Warren counties. As well as the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Manassas and Manassas Park.
  • Pennsylvania: Adams, Chester, Lancaster and York counties
  • Delaware: all counties

Explanation of Fees

 

Technology Fee supports instructional and informational entrepreneurial efforts and technology projects related to the academic activities of our students and faculty. Part-time rate is $12 per credit hour and the full-time flat rate is $144.

Student Services Fee provides funding for a variety of co-curricular services, events and programming provided primarily through Student Affairs offices. Part-time rate is $23 per credit hour and the full-time flat rate is $288.

Auxiliary Operating Fee supports the student center, parking facilities and operations, transportation services, conferences services, campus card operations and the University System of Maryland-mandated fund balance contribution.  Part-time rate is $28 per credit hour and the full-time flat rate is $336 for 12 or more credits.

Student Government Association Fee supports the student governments, and the part-time and full-time rate is $30. This is for undergraduate and graduate students.

Student Center Fee supports the operation and upkeep of the student center building and the student activities and programs administered by student center staff. The costs supported include personnel involved in building administration, operations,  student programming, maintenance, and security as well as costs for utilities, maintenance/repair of the building and its systems, student programming materials and services, and cyclical refreshes of furniture and technology within the building. Part-time rate is $36 per credit  hour and the full-time rate is $432 for 12 or more credits.

Student Bar Association Fee supports the Student Bar Association, and the part-time and full-time rate is $37. This is for law and LL.M. students.

Laboratory fees apply to certain courses. These are used to maintain and upgrade equipment and licenses and to provide consumable materials necessary for the course. The laboratory fee varies depending on the course.

A $75 fee may be added to student accounts that are not paid in full by the scheduled due date for the term.

If you register during the Late Registration Period, you will incur a $20 late fee.

The orientation fee supports expenses related to a variety of new student experiences. The one-time fee is $55 for undergraduate and graduate students.

The matriculation fee covers administrative costs associated with continued enrollment and persistence at the University including the fees associated with graduation and commencement. This is a one-time fee of $140 charged to all students enrolling in a degree program at the School of Law in their first semester.
