Welcome, parents!

Sending your child to college is an exciting milestone, but we understand it can also feel overwhelming. At The University of Baltimore, we offer a range of resources and support to help both you and your student feel confident as you join the UBalt family.

As a public institution, UBalt offers a high-quality education at an affordable price. For more details on tuition and fees, including out-of-state rates, visit our tuition page.

Have questions? The Office of the Bursar is your go-to resource for tuition-related inquiries and payment plan options.

All students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships upon admission. Scholarship amounts are based on academic performance, with stronger academic profiles leading to higher scholarship awards. International students, DACA recipients, and "Dreamers" may also qualify for these scholarships.

For financial aid, including loans, grants, and federal work-study, students need to complete the FAFSA. UBalt's school code is 002102. For more details, visit the Office of Financial Aid website or contact them at 410.837.4763.

Yes, UBalt is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, with a 10-year renewal granted in June 2017.

In addition, we maintain programmatic accreditations from respected organizations such as the American Bar Association, the Association of American Law Schools, and others.

UBalt is part of the University System of Maryland (USM), one of 13 public institutions in the state. As a public institution, we follow policies set by the state legislature and the USM Board of Regents, ensuring our programs align with state workforce needs. Being public also means you get great value for your education, access to statewide resources like the USM library system, and the option to take courses at other USM institutions.

At UBalt, you'll be taught by experienced faculty members who bring real-world expertise to the classroom. Many professors work in the field during the day and teach in the evenings, weekends, or online, ensuring a practical, career-focused curriculum. Our courses include internships, capstone projects, and opportunities to push boundaries, all aimed at helping you succeed.

  • First-year undergraduates follow a pathway program, joining a community of students focused on one of five areas of study. This pathway offers career advising, tailored assignments, and a clear focus on long-term goals. After 30 credits, students declare a major and continue coursework with other students in their field.
  • Transfer students will focus on major-related, general education, and elective courses. Advisers will help create a plan that maximizes prior credits, accommodates work or life schedules, and aligns with future goals.

All students benefit from small class sizes (up to 30 students), flexible scheduling, and online learning options. A bachelor's degree requires 120 credits, and accelerated pathways into graduate programs or the UBalt School of Law may save you time and money by allowing you to apply undergraduate courses toward your graduate degree.

To support your success, we offer program-specific academic advising upon entry and at key credit milestones (30, 45, 60, and 90 credits), ensuring you stay on track both academically and personally.

To apply, students must complete the online application, including the Maryland Residency Form, and submit the following documents for review:

First-Year Students (fewer than 30 college credits):

    • Official high school transcript
    • SAT/ACT scores (optional)

Transfer Students (30+ earned or in-progress credits):

    • Official transcripts from all previous institutions

International Students:

    • Transcript evaluation
    • Proof of English language proficiency

All students (with parental assistance) should also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

  • Note: International students are not eligible to complete the FAFSA.

The University of Baltimore is test score optional for first-year admission consideration. Contact a personal admission counselor for additional information and plan to attend one of our information sessions

As a state institution, UBalt must verify whether a student is an in-state or out-of-state resident. In-state students pay lower tuition, supported by state funding. To qualify for in-state residency, students must meet specific Maryland requirements. Students who do not complete the residency form will be classified as out-of-state.
