Todd Harper is a game studies scholar and critic with interests in diversity and representation in games, e-sports and performativity in play. His dissertation work (the foundation of his recent book The Culture of Digital Fighting Games: Performance and Practice ) was in competitive fighting games and their players. Dr. Harper recently finished four years as a researcher at the MIT Game Lab, and is now a visiting lecturer in the Simulation and Game Design program at the University of Baltimore. He is also a blogger, writer and sometimes game designer who produced two games while working at MIT: "A Closed World" (2012 Indiecade finalist) and "Fugue."
