Dr. Frank Xu is a professor and the Director of the M.S. in Cyber Forensics program at the University of Baltimore. His research expertise lies in applied artificial intelligence for digital forensics, software security, and applied formal methods. With a prolific academic career, Dr. Xu has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conference proceedings. He has also secured multi-million in research funding from prominent federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Energy (DOE), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Department of Criminal Justice.
A strong proponent of open-source digital forensics education, Dr. Xu has developed a widely accessible digital forensics hands-on lab hosted on GitHub (https://github.com/frankwxu/digital-forensics-lab), which has achieved over 1 million views. As the principal investigator (PI) of numerous projects, he has been instrumental in driving innovation in cybersecurity.
Before joining the University of Baltimore, Dr. Xu was an Associate Professor of Computer Science and served as the director of the cybersecurity program at Bowie State University.
