The University Faculty Senate shall serve as the official voice of the university faculty in matters of its general concern.

Constitution and Bylaws

The University Faculty Senate of the University of Baltimore serves as the official voice of the University faculty in matters of its general concern. The purpose of this organization is (1) to represent the faculty in the governance of the university; (2) to formulate and recommend policies and procedures which guarantee each faculty member procedural and substantive due process; and (3) to act as a liaison with the University System of Maryland (USM) Council of University System Faculty (CUSF).

 

The Senate has authority to formulate and recommend policies, subject to the advice of the other governance bodies, regarding all matters of academic concern including, but not limited to: curriculum matters, degree requirements, academic standards, academic freedom, admission policies and standards, student behavior, academic programs, promotion and tenure policies and standards, operation and administration of research, scholarship and creative activity.

 

The Senate acts as a consultative and advisory body on matters of faculty concern which shall include, but are not limited to: appointment of administrative officers with institution-wide responsibilities, budget and planning matters, university organizational structure, periodic reviews of academic departments and programs, and other matters affecting the educational quality of the University.
