Undergraduate Certificate in Accounting

Your next career step is UBalt's Upper-Division, Undergraduate Certificate in Accounting. It prepares you for a career in accounting and leads to entry into the profession as a certified public accountant.

The certificate in accounting is designed for individuals who wish to change to a career with an accounting focus who have already obtained a bachelor’s degree in a field other than accounting. The accounting certificate provides the accounting coursework necessary to sit for the CPA exam in Maryland. The program also meets the requirements for beginning accounting and auditing positions with the Federal government (four years of college including 24 semester hours in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

The certificate is a 24- to 30-credit program based upon accounting courses on your transcript. By completing this program you will meet the accounting and ethic course requirements necessary to sit for the Maryland CPA exam and apply your knowledge to succeed on those parts of the exam. The program meets the guidelines for accounting and ethics established in Maryland's educational requirements dated October 1, 2011, that qualifies those who can sit for the Uniform CPA exam.
