Klein Family Center for Communications Design

Welcome to the Klein Family Center of Communications Design—an interdisciplinary cohort of artists, designers, writers, and researchers at The University of Baltimore. At the Klein Center, we're devoted to creative collaboration. We're supportive of anyone who wants to create. We're here to provide the spark that makes things happen.

'Art, Arguments, Artifacts'

Driven by the idea that nothing is ever just one thing, the Klein Center joins together word and image, theory and practice, design and commerce, and preservation and promotion under a wide variety of disciplines (Creative Writing and Publishing Arts, Digital Communication, English, Integrated Design, and beyond).

The Center makes—art, arguments, artifacts—and makes public, through conferences, concerts, performances, screenings, symposia, demonstrations, and workshops.

The Klein Family Center for Communications Design was founded in 2025 through the generous support of the Klein family. In that lasting spirit of gratitude and openness, the center dedicates itself to the core idea that creativity, learning and improving are the perfect partners—and that partnership, in the right hands, can last a lifetime. Your creative self, regardless of how it manifests in you, can be foundational for all of your years. When you create something, in turn, it can create (or recreate) something in you! And, in the most impactful way, there is true joy in that journey of self-expression and self-discovery.

Our center is just getting started. We invite you to visit this site often for updates, opportunities, and so on. If you'd like to know more, we encourage you to get intouch with us.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.
