B.S. in Simulation and Game Design

Love video games? Learn how to make them even better or how to create your own. Study game concepts and design, computer programming, 3D modeling and animation, usability design, interactive media, and the design of multiplayer games.

While our main campus is in midtown Baltimore, we're committed to serving students throughout the D.C. area. That's why we offer our B.S. in Simulation and Game Design at The Universities at Shady Grove. It's the same excellent program, just more accessible to our students who live closer to Rockville, Maryland.

How the program works

Specialize by selecting a content area and, through two capstone seminars with experienced faculty, design and build games and simulations. Graduate with a portfolio demonstrating your expertise and opportunities to connect with industry professionals.

Technical Art

If you want to build your skill sets with 3D modeling and animation and with integrating them into game engines, this track prepares you to become a technical artist who works with programmers and artists. The track focuses on higher-level 3D skills and tool development and requires visual artistic talent.

Coding and Development

This area of specialization is ideal for you if you want to improve your scripting and logic in preparation for a career as a game developer, turning ideas into functional video games and simulations. Whether you have a ton of ideas that you do not yet have the coding skills to implement or are an advanced coder who wants to take your skills to the next level, our program will help you advance your capabilities and make you an asset to your team.

Game Lab
The University of Baltimore Game Lab is an educational research facility equipped with immersive, visualization and interactive game technologies. The lab is designed to support interdisciplinary research in games and media, and is an ideal training ground for Simulation and Game Design students.
