Graduate Programs

Graduate-level education is an investment in your future.

M.S. in Counseling Psychology |  This program prepares students for careers in psychology, by providing a stepping stone to doctoral study in clinical or counseling psychology or to a career as a licensed clinical professional counselor. You can choose to pursue either the 48-credit General Counseling Psychology Track or the 60-credit Practitioner Specialization.
MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts |  This 48-credit program is for the  student who wants practical and intense writing practice to your voice, your creative identity and your use of language—and a better understanding of the intersection of writing and publishing. This program, named by Poets & Writers magazine as one of nine distinctive M.F.A. programs in the country, is an ideal fit for anyone who wants to become a professional writer.
M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology | A 42-credit program that prepares students for careers as practitioners and researchers by emphasizing a curriculum of evidence-based practice and course activities that enhance student experiential learning.  | A STEM-designated program.
D.Sc. in Information and Interaction Design | This 48-credit Doctor of Science program encourages an in-depth exploration of information and interaction design for humans. Through interdisciplinary courses in topics like cognitive psychology, library science, computer science, user research, and interaction design, doctoral students become leading researchers and designers who can build innovative design solutions on a solid understanding of human behavior. | A STEM-designated program.

M.A. in Integrated Design | Combining theory and practice, this 36-credit  program integrates conceptual thinking, design, professional writing and research across multiple forms of media. Founded in the late 1970s, the program’s evolving curriculum has consistently prepared students to adapt to rapid changes in the fields of design and communications.

The program is offered on the UBalt campus and on The Universities at Shady Grove campus.

MFA in Integrated Design | This 60-credit Master of Fine Arts program offers an integration of print, video and digital media design like no other in the country.
M.S. in Interaction Design and Information Architecture | This 36-credit Master of Science program emphasizes the design, development and application of significant information technologies to satisfy human needs and desires. Imagine, design and build interactive systems to address needs and interests that humankind is only beginning to recognize. This program is available on the UBalt campus and fully online. | A STEM-designated program.
M.A. in Legal Studies | A 36-credit program that program provides coursework in law, the legal system, legal research and methods, and the ethical and historical underpinnings of law.  It can be used as a stepping stone to law school or to advance in the many law-related careers that do not require a law degree. 
M.S. User-Centered Cybersecurity | Equip yourself with a unique blend of cybersecurity and human-centered design expertise. You'll learn to apply psychological and cognitive principles to create secure, usable interfaces, and conduct rigorous research

 

Post-Baccalaureate Certificates

For career advancement without the commitment of a full degree, our 12-credit certificates provide standalone credentials that can also count toward a master's.

Certificate in Advanced UX Research  | This 12-credit graduate certificate program includes courses in doctoral level empirical research methods, statistics, HCI theory, and a hands-on course on conducting user research with special populations (topics vary but include children, older adults, adults who use assistive technology, English language learners, and adults with mild cognitive impairment). If an advanced degree is in your future, this certificate aligns with M.S. in Interaction Design and Information Architecture or the D.S. in Interaction and Information Design. This certificate is available on the UBalt campus and fully online.

Certificate in Digital Communication | This 12-credit post-baccalaureate certificate program has been developed specifically for you, the digital communication manager.

Graduate Certificate in Global Industrial and Organizational Psychology | If you've earned or are earning your master's degree in industrial and organizational psychology (IOP), this 12-credit post-baccalaureate certificate program provides you with credentials that emphasize your experience in global IOP.

Graduate Certificate in Professional Counseling Studies | If you've earned or are earning your master's degree in counseling psychology, this 18-credit Certificate in Professional Counseling Studies program provides you with the 60 graduate credits and 125 hours of field experience required to sit for the National Counselor Examination.

Certificate in User Experience (UX) Design | This 12-credit, fully online certificate program emphasizes interaction design, information architecture and usability analysis. If a you decide to further your education this certificate aligns well with our  M.S. in Interaction Design and Information Architecture program. This certificate is available on the UBalt campus and fully online.
