Alternative Breaks

Take a break and give back.

For many years, UBalt hosted Alternative Spring Breaks on campus. At this time they are not offered, but we wanted to ensure that information was preserved.  The Alternative Spring Breaks consisted of a group of students and staff who would visit sites in Baltimore or other locations to explore service opportunities, build relationships, and deepen their understanding of communities.

Participants in our Alternative Break program were able to:

• experience a community's culture and history
• complete hands-on service learning projects on topics such as environmental sustainability, nutrition and social justice
• build relationships with other UBalt students, students from other campuses, and community members.

Students paid a participation fee and all transportation and lodging, as well as most meals for the trip, were included in the fee.
