UBALT DEFINITION OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Community engagement at The University of Baltimore (UBalt) is defined as the reciprocal, mutually beneficial collaboration of the University with its community partners to promote public well-being in Baltimore, the state of Maryland, and beyond. UBalt is an urban anchor institution that largely serves a working adult population. The University’s students, alumni, and members of its faculty and staff hold a historical commitment to addressing the needs of diverse communities through volunteering and engaged learning opportunities that instill democratic values and a sense of civic responsibility in its constituency.  At UBalt, curriculum meets community: we systematically foster civic engagement, service learning, community service, engaged scholarship, and community-based participatory research through our academic programs, centers, clinics, practicums, and internships.

Have a question about any of the opportunities above?  E-mail engagement@ubalt.edu.
