Paid Leave

A pay group specifies the type and amount of leave to which an employee is entitled. A pay group also defines leave accrual rates. Pay groups are as follows:

NOTE: All leave accrual rates are based on full-time. Time is prorated for employees who work less than full time.

EXE - Regular Exempt Employees
NEX - Regular Non-Exempt Employees
NEG - Regular Non-Exempt Grandfathered
F21 - Regular 10 month Faculty on 21 pay schedule
F26 - Regular 10 month Faculty on 26 pay
F12 - 12 month Faculty
LIB - Regular Librarians/Faculty
C1N - Contingent I, Non-Exempt
C2N - Contingent II, Non-Exempt
C1E - Contingent I, Exempt
C2E - Contingent II, Exempt
ADJ - Adjunct Faculty
GRA - Graduate Assistants
NBC - Student Assistants & College Work Study

EXE - Regular Exempt Employees

Leave available: paid leave for annual, sick, personal, and holiday. Limited comp time with approval.

Accrual Rates

Annual leave: earned at the bi-weekly rate of 6.76 hours, or 22 days per year. At the beginning of the 21st year of service, accrual rate increases to 7.68 hours bi-weekly, or 25 days per year.

Sick leave: earned at the bi-weekly rate of 4.61 hours, or 15 days per year.

Personal days: three are earned at the beginning of each calendar year, not to exceed 24 hours.

Holidays: 14 holidays are earned, 15 in a general election year. 3 of the 14 holidays are earned as administrative holidays which are to be used specifically at the close of the year during the holiday break.

NEX - Regular Non-Exempt Employees

Leave available: paid leave for annual, sick, personal, and holiday. Overtime with approval.

Accrual Rates

Annual leave: employees begin accruing time immediately and can be used to the extent that it is accrued and available. Part-time employees working 50% or more will earn annual leave on a pro-rated basis. Leave will be accrued according to the following schedule:

  • Beginning with the 1st month through the completion of the 1st year:   11 days
  • Beginning with the 2nd year through the completion of the 2nd year:    12 days
  • Beginning with the 3rd year through the completion of the 3rd year:      13 days
  • Beginning with the 4th year through the completion of the 4th year:       14 days
  • Beginning with the 5th year through the completion of the 10th year:     15 days
  • Beginning with the 11th year through the completion of the 20th year:   20 days
  • Beginning with the 21st year and thereafter:                                            25 days

Sick leave: earned at the bi-weekly rate of 4.61 hours, or 15 days per year.

Note: There is a limited number of grandfathered employees who moved from Exempt status to Non-Exempt status when the Non-Exempt Pay Plan was instituted in 1996. These employees retained their leave rights as exempt employees.

F21 (Regular 10 month faculty on 21 pay schedule) and F26 (Regular 10 month faculty on 26 pay schedule)

Leave available: paid sick leave; collegially supported sick leave with approval

Accrual rates:

Sick leave: employees earn 12.5 days per year, at a bi-weekly rate of 4.76 hours.

Note: Employees do not receive any other type of paid leave except access to collegially supported sick leave (arrangements must be made with HR to use this type of leave).

F12 (12 month Faculty) and LIB (Regular Librarians/Faculty)

Leave available: paid leave for annual, sick, personal, and holiday.

Accrual Rates

C2N (Contingent II, Non-exempt) and C2E (Contingent II, Exempt)

Leave available: paid leave and holiday.

Accrual: Employees are entitled up to eight days of contingent paid leave and earn 11 holidays per contract period (July through June) if the contract is in effect at the time the holiday is earned.

Additional Pay Groups

The following pay groups do not receive paid leave:

  • C1N - Contingent I, Non-exempt
  • C1E - Contingent I, Exempt
  • ADJ - Adjunct Faculty
  • GRA - Graduate Assistants
  • NBC - Students Assistants & College Work Study
