Andrew J. Ziaja, an assistant professor in The University of Baltimore School of Law with expertise in labor and employment law, tells WMAR-TV that the successful negotiations of employees to form a union at the Apple store in Towson is a "huge first step" in establishing union deals at other Apple locations across the country.
"The Apple negotiations are taking place in the context of other major unionization efforts that have been going on for years at this point," Ziaja says. He notes that the store's arrangement could become a pattern that employees at other stores use in establishing their own unions.
According to WMAR, the Towson location is the first Apple store in the country to have a union. An employee of the store told the station that the outcome is "definitely a big moment."
