For ambitious students hoping to innovate, create, and help solve the problems of the twenty-first century, Interdisciplinary Studies assists them by opening their eyes to the need for multiple expert perspectives at the problem-solving table. Journeying through (or completing) three courses of study will show you that the best solutions often combine different perspectives. Future business and public-sector leaders know how to guide a team of diverse thinkers, no matter the workplace. Twenty-first-century professions require you to be a flexible thinker and a top-notch communicator. This Bachelor of Arts program prepares you not only to meet those needs but to inspire colleagues in the process.
Working with a skilled adviser, you'll construct a cohesive program of study combining the traditional rigors of a liberal arts education with more professionally oriented disciplines. You'll choose three concentration areas from the university’s entire undergraduate portfolio of programs—including business, psychology, human services, digital communications, and much more.
Through this program, you can build upon your strengths and sharpen your skills to achieve success in any number of fields, including:
- social work and city services
- urban planning
- nonprofit organizations
- small business development
- professional social media management
- data analyst.

“Earning my degree was a journey and my passions took me down so many paths. The Interdisciplinary Studies program at UBalt provided me the direction I needed to combine those interests into something sustainable. My concentrations in English, business and corporate communications led me to a career in libraries. As a Youth and Family Engagement Librarian in Baltimore County, I apply all of these aspects to my job every day. This includes everything from project coordination to curating book collections to engaging with the community."

“UBalt’s Interdisciplinary Studies program allowed me to explore key issues in the gaming industry in unique ways that went beyond the school’s game design program alone. By combining game design, history and psychology, I was able to create a degree program that explored game studies, video game preservation and the use of gaming tech in therapeutic practices. This has allowed me to not only be a more conscientious game designer and storyteller, but also utilize games in educational settings, as I pursue a career in education.”
