Terese Thonus serves as professor and director of the University Writing Program in the Klein Family School of Communications Design at the University of Baltimore. Previously, she directed the Writing Center at the University of Kansas. As associate professor, she taught in the Linguistics Department at California State University, Fresno and as assistant professor in the English Department at East Carolina University. At UBalt, she teaches CWPA 761 (Teaching Writing) and courses in the Writing Program. Her research interests are academic writing, second language writing, and writing center studies. She has published articles in Assessing Writing, Journal of College Reading and Learning, Journal of Second Language Writing, and the Writing Center Journal, among others. The second edition of her book, Researching the Writing Center: Towards an Evidence-Based Practice (co-authored with Rebecca Babcock) appeared January 2018.
