Sunny Kang's research interests center on health disparities in long-term care settings among underserved populations and how federal and state legislation, regulations, policies and programs can reduce or eliminate such disparities. Another of her research areas of interest is to examine the significant role of health-care financing (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid) in health-care delivery and access.
Kang's previous works are published in journals such as The Gerontologist, Journal of Aging & Social Policy, and Medical Care Research and Review. She serves as the program chair of the Aging & Public Health Section of the American Public Health Association for its 2012 and 2013 conferences.
