Since 2012, Startup Maryland's "Pitch Across Maryland" bus tour has given aspiring entrepreneurs from The University of Baltimore the opportunity to present their ideas and concepts for new businesses with a select group of successful business leaders. On Nov. 19, the organization's "STRT1UP Road Show" bus tour included a stop at UBalt's Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Throughout the afternoon, participants engaged in workshops, opportunities to practice their elevator pitch, and networking with like-minded people.

Joshua Penrod Receives UBalt's Bucher Adjunct Faculty Award

Joshua Penrod, MBA '10, an adjunct faculty member in The University of Baltimore's Merrick School of Business, is the recipient of the 2024 Richard Bucher Award for Adjunct Faculty. The Bucher Award is named for a long-time adjunct faculty member who set a high bar for the institution's adjunct educators by delivering not only solid teaching to deserving students, but also a strong commitment to service, camaraderie within the community, and excellence in academic research and writing.
Alumnus Alan Tsao's Latest Watch Design Commemorates Key Bridge, Donates to Families Impacted by Its Collapse

Alan Tsao, B.S. '11, MBA '21, continues to earn accolades as his Baltimore-based watch company finds new ways to both strengthen its brand while also giving back to the community. Tsao, the CEO of the Tsao Baltimore Watch Company, announced that the company will soon sell watches made from steel remnants of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The company then will donate more than $300,000 in profits to families impacted by the destruction of the bridge.
