Highlights of Upcoming Events on Campus

The following are some highlights of upcoming events at UB:

An unprecedented gathering of amateur sports experts—ranging from Travis Tygart, CEO of the United States Anti-Doping Agency; and Deedee Corradini, president of U.S. Women's Ski Jumping and, as former mayor of Salt Lake City, a major figure in bringing the 2002 Winter Olympics to that city; to Doug Logan, current CEO of USA Track & Field and former commissioner, president and CEO of Major League Soccer; and John Ruger, athlete ombudsman for the United States Olympic Committee—will take place on Thursday, Oct. 29 beginning at 9 a.m. in the University of Baltimore School of Law, when the school's Center for Sport and the Law hosts its inaugural amateur sports symposium, "From Doping to Diversity: Legal Issues in the American Olympic Movement." Erik van Ommeren, co-author of Collaboration in the Cloud: How Cross-Boundary Collaboration is Transforming Business
and director of innovation at Vision Inspiration Navigation Trends/Sogeti USA, will appear at UB on Tuesday, Nov. 10 to discuss the book. The event, the latest offering in the Merrick School of Business Dean's Speaker Series, will begin at 6 p.m. in the Venable Baetjer Howard Moot Court Room in the School of Law. Spotlight UB's Jazz Pianist Concert Series, co-produced with An die Musik, continues on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. with a performance by James Weidman, one of the best jazz accompanists in the world with a playing and recording career that includes work with Max Roach, Woody Herman, Archie Shepp, James Moody, Slide Hampton and blues diva Dakota Staton. Do you know the body language cues that can help you determine whether or not you are reaching your audience? As a motivated professional, do you spend hours reading and taking training to get ahead in your career? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may benefit from a Thursday, Nov. 19 session with Janine Driver, NBC Today contributor and author of The Master of Success. Driver will present "The Lyin' Tamer Reveals: Are Your Mouth and Body Speaking the Same Language?," beginning at 6 p.m. in the University of Baltimore's Student Center Performing Arts Theater, 21 W. Some of the most stunning examples of 20th century American poster art, produced by the legendary Globe Poster Co. of Baltimore, are now on exhibit in the Student Center Gallery. The gallery is located on the fifth floor of the Student Center, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave. The exhibit will continue through Dec. 16. Learn more.
